Lisbon is definitely having it's moment as one of the top European destinations right now. I used to view it as outdated and run down, but I couldn't have been more wrong. Lisbon is now filled with cute restaurants, hip boutique hotels and stunning rooftop bars. I absolutely loved the trip and mainly spent it walking through all the neighborhoods in the rain. I was hosted by the stunning Santa Clara 1728. They have the sweetest staff and I couldn't recommend it enough. Aside from the amazingly comfortable bed, the breakfast has to be my favorite: they surround you with copious amounts of amazing fresh food, making it incredibly hard to pry myself away to explore. In short: put Lisbon on your travel bucket list for next year! Here are my favorites from our stay:

Tapisco - amazing tapas bar with impeccable drinks
A Cevicheria - the best ceviche with a to go window in case the wait is too long
El Decadente - fun restaurant with an even better rooftop bar
Hello Kristof - scandi-cool coffee place
Dear Breakfast - you guessed it: amazing brunch
Memmo Alfama - have drinks on the rooftop at sunset

Alfama - the prettiest neighborhood, especially Miradouro Portas do Sol
Santa Justa Lift - an old lift with amazing views in the heart of the old town
Bairro Alto - the old crumbling part of Lisbon you'll have seen in pictures
Praca do Comercio - Lisbon's stunning central square
MAAT - even if you don't go inside, the architecture is stunning
LX Factory - cool shops and restaurants in an old factory area
