Brunch
Claus is the tiniest breakfast place tucked away in a side street of Rue St Honoré, with a small shop on the ground level and a small restaurant on the first floor. It feels quintessentially French, but also serves all your British and American breakfast classics, and even some green juice, which is always difficult to find in Paris.
Buvette happens to make the best ones I've ever had, simply using steam from a coffee machine …
My best friend Emma recently moved into her new apartment and is now an expert in all things East Village, so she took us to one of her favorite brunch places: The Smith. (Don't worry they have locations in midtown and the Upper West Side too!) The atmosphere is relaxed and it's lovely to enjoy the fresh air from the big windows as you eat.
For our first room mate brunch of the year, Carolyn and I went to Bubby's, conveniently located not too far from our new apartment. Their iced coffee was one of my favorites I've had so far in New York and I almost finished it before we could place our actual order for food!
Carolyn had granola, yoghurt and fruit.
And I had the biggest and fluffiest pancakes I have ever seen. I'm really not sure how it's humanly possible to finish much more than one of these bad boys!
And a bit of fruit salad for me, to make me feel ever so slightly healthy.
Find them right by the highline and make sure you go for a walk right after, to burn off those pancake calories!
My friend Carolyn and I recently signed the lease for an apartment together next year. It's going to be my very first apartment, so naturally I feel very grown up and to celebrate she took me to one of her new favorite brunch places in West Village, Joseph Leonard. Carolyn clearly knows me pretty well, because I absolutely loved this place!
We started out with the usual round of fruit, coffee and orange juice.
Carolyn had the omelette with mushrooms, goat cheese and baby lettuce.
I had the avocado toast with scrambled eggs and I was extremely impressed by the avocado toast, which was made just the way I usually make mine at home.
I also had to get a side of the country fried bacon, which was almost too intense, but amazing nevertheless!
Afterwards we went for a stroll in our new neighborhood and the light was so gorgeous that I simply had to share a few pictures with you:

New York, it's really hard not to love you at times like these.
